Brian the Bad Movie Guy: Horror DVDs for October 13th
It's Tuesday, October 13th...that's right, it's Tuesday the 13th, which is a lot like Friday the 13th, only earlier in the week. So, let's get our candy bags out, get out costumes on and head to the video store for a bit of early trick or treating...shall we?

First up, and much to the delight of you teeny-boppers out there, it's THE HAUNTED AIRMAN from E1 Entertainment. This stars Twilight's Robert Pattinson as a sexy flight lieutenant who's been wounded in action and is confined to a wheelchair. Since he's suffering from terrible nightmares and hallucinations, he's under the care of a psychiatrist, who he begins to suspect may be behind the nightmares. The only person he can trust is his aunt...or can he trust her? Well, as long as there's plenty of hair gel and mousse, I'm sure that he'll be just fine!

Does that sound a bit 'teenaged girl' for you? Me too! So, let's all thank Universal Studios for giving us the latest from Sam Raimi today...that's right, it's DRAG ME TO HELL! This story of a banker who is forced to make a decision that evicts an old gypsy lady from her home, finds herself under a curse! Now she has three days before a demon comes to literally drag her down to hell! How will she get out of it? Well, knowing Raimi, whatever the answer is, I'm sure it'll be messy and painful.

If you're looking forward to this Friday and the release of The Stepfather, then you'll be really happy that Shout! Factory is giving us the original THE STEPFATHER on DVD today. Starring Lost's Terry O'Quinn as the man who just wants a perfect family. Oh, and if you're not perfect, God help you, because you're probably going to wind up dead and becoming fertilizer in the backyard garden!

Anchor Bay is telling us all HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME today. This 80s classic has young Ginny hoping to join the popular clique in her new upscale school. The problem is that the group's members keep turning up dead! Could they all be connected to Ginny's murderous past? And, when her 18th birthday is coming up, Ginny may be the guest of honor at a truly horrific party! You see, this is the kind of party I always wanted...but never had thrown for me!

The Drive In comes back to life today with Code Red's PETS. The story of Bonnie, a hot young chick who's run away from home to LA. There she meets Victor a rich, playboy collector (No, he doesn't collect Playboys...he's a playboy and a collector!). Victor collects painting, sculptures and exotic animals...oh, and I think he collects hot chicks that just got into LA too!

Sony Pictures is putting the craft back into witch-craft today with its Blu-Ray release of THE CRAFT. Sarah's a girl who's a bit different, and when she falls in with the misfits in her new school, she discovers that she's not just different...she's a witch! Now the four friends team up to study witchcraft and get even with the kids in school who treat them badly. This is just another good argument for outlawing teenaged girls altogether!

In First Look Pictures, INFESTATION, Cooper has just found himself a new job. The problem is that, soon after starting it, he's discovered himself nauseous, weak and stuck to the ceiling with webbing! Now, he and a ragtag group of office workers have to find a safe place and get away from the giant bugs. Man, if I had a nickel for every time I woke up sticky...I wouldn't be doing this...I'd be doing it with a nickel's worth of candy in my mouth!

In KILLER MOVIE from Phase 4 Films, a reality TV show goes really wrong when the cast and crew find themselves stuck in a remote location with a killer! If only this were a real TV show, I'd be glued to the TV every week!

MPI Home Video sets THE OBJECTIVE today, set in Afghanistan two months after 9/11; this follows a CIA operative as he leads a Special Forces squad after a Muslim cleric who may have information about WMDs. But, what they get isn't weapons, but something that they didn't count on! Now they have to figure out how to fight what they can't touch and hide from something that really isn't there. Let's all just hope that this doesn't devolve into some symbolic, politicized clap-trap...just stick to the gore and blood in horror movies please!

In MIDNIGHT MOVIE from Phase 4 Films, a 70s horror movie is having a run as a midnight movie in the local theatre. But, when the killer from the movie comes out of the film and begins attacking the audience, there's going to be trouble. Especially when you consider that you're not supposed to talk during the movie...so, I'm assuming that screaming is out too.

Tired of all this horror entertainment? Want to learn a little something? Well, Monterey Video is going to tell us HOW TO BE A SERIAL KILLER today. Mike is a great teacher, in fact, he's teaching a course on how to be a serial killer, complete with weapons choices and body disposal tips. With his prize student, Bart, he begins doing a bit of 'field work', and when the cops catch up to them, it's time for lessons on 'fleeing the police' and 'armed standoffs'. If they had classes like this, I'd still be in college!!

Mya Communication is bringing us UNTIL DEATH today, the romantic story of a couple who run a small hotel near a popular fishing lake. Did I mention that the two also killed a man eight years ago, and that man's wife was pregnant? And now there's drifter who's turned up at the hotel who knows a little too much about the murder? I think the relaxing fishing vacation is about to be put on hold.

In IMURDERS from Anchor Bay, members of a MySpace chat room are being killed in real life. How can you track a killer who could be anyone on the internet? I guess we'll find out. This is what happens on MySpace, people get killed. That's why I'm a Facebook guy, you only get maimed over there!

Dark Sky Films is taking us to the English country side with GNAW. Who doesn't love a weekend in the country? Well, I guess the people who run across the slaughter happy cannibals in this movie...who have a taste for meat pies...and guess what the meat is?? Sounds tasty...and fun!

In LEFT BANK from MPI Home Video, after being stricken with an infection, a woman moves in with her boyfriend, only to find that the building holds some strange power. What lurks in the basement of the building? Well, my guess is it's something other than leaky pipes.

R Squared Films wants you to meet the LOVED ONES today. When a Seattle cop, who searching for a missing friend, comes across a vampire coven, it seems that the coven is at war with itself. The leader of the coven has discovered a cure for the thirst of blood and finds that he has a challenger for leadership of the vampires. Now, all three men are on a collision course with all of human-kind hanging in the balance. Fans of vampire movies will surely want to get a taste of this one!

In Lifesize Entertainment's ORAL FIXATION, a young woman becomes obsessed with her dentist. But, when he refuses to treat her, she has a break with reality and now she's going to make herself a part of his life one way or another...and I'm sure that both those ways probably involve some violence.

In the mood for something a little more low budget? Well, Sub Rosa Studios is going to satisfy that hunger with a GRINDHOUSE DOUBLE FEATURE: SADISTIC HOLOCAUST, the first movie is SADOMASTER, the story of an Argentinean senator that's really the head of a Nazi gang. When the gang kills a retarded man, a masked avenger begins taking brutal revenge on the gang. Nazis and super heroes...sounds like a 'must see' to me! The second movie is DEAD BODY MAN 2, and is the story of a serial killer who wants to go straight. But, God, Jesus and Santa Claus have other ideas for him...and soon he's back to his old ways. Hey, you may not listen to God or Jesus, but when Santa asks you to do something, you better pay attention...or else you might not get any presents!

Are you one of those animal lovers? Well, Rhi Entertainment is going to try to cure you of that today with the MANEATER TRIPLE FEATURE. The first movie is BLOOD MONKEY and finds a group of students battling a remote species of chimp, and my guess is that they're violent. In MANEATER, Sheriff Gary Busey battles a 600 pound Bengal Tiger...who I believe wants to eat people. And finally, in IN THE SPIDER'S WEB, a team of backpackers are exploring the jungle, when one of them is bitten by a spider and dies. Soon the team discovers that they're not alone in the jungle and that they're next to be part of a ritual that involves feeding people to venomous spiders!

And last, but certainly not least, Anthem Pictures brings us ZOMBIE DEAREST. The story of a couple who are on a cross country trip to find the house the wife grew up in. When they get to the old place and start fixing it up, her decides that he needs some help...and when you need help what should you do? That's right, get a zombie! And, my guess is that having a zombie slave is a bit like having a pet bear...it's gonna turn on you, it's just a matter of when!

Well, that ought to keep your heart pounding for a week, and that'll be just in time to all meet back here to get those beats per minute back up! Until then, remember that I do indie aerobics every month over at Rogue Cinema.com and there's always a new movie to break me into a sweat every Friday over at Bad Movie Guy.com and, if I'm looking for something horror related...then I come right here to FearZone!
