Pre-Order AS FATE WOULD HAVE IT by Michael Louis Calvillo
Okay, it's not often that I'll personally recommend you even consider shelling out $50 for a Limited Edition book, especially in these days of impending Depression, but in this case I'll make an exception.

As Fate Would Have It, the cannibals-and-drug addicts novel by Michael Louis Calvillo (Fear Zone's own Game Zone reviewer), which I read in manuscript form, is hands down the best book I read this year, horror or otherwise. I don't know how Calvillo finds time to write when he's playing all those video games, but the man has talent and style to spare and I believe he's going to rise to the top of the horror heap one day.

The book went up for pre-order from Bad Moon Books today. Assuming it ships on time, which is never a safe assumption with small presses, it will be in your hungry hands sometime in January. Only 150 signed and numbered copies will be printed, and I guarantee that when the reiews come out this title will sell out fast. You won't be one of the cool kids if you order it now--but you'll be one of the smart ones!

As Fate Would Have It will feature an introduction by John R. Little (whose novella Miranda Norman Rubenstein just raved about) and an afterward by Lisa Morton (who has a Halloween book coming out which Gabrielle Faust is going to review for us any day...).

"Be forewarned: this book plays rough, particularly in the deeply shocking climax wherein some profoundly nasty surprises await...the finale is dark, and extremely so, but also oddly revelatory, literate and provocative. Not unlike the book as a whole."
--Adam Groves, Fright.com

"As Fate Would Have It is a nine-course gourmet cannibal feast served with wicked humor and a heroin shot chaser. Calvillo's writing is as addictive as his characters' sundry habits."
--Gregory Lamberson, Johnny Gruesome and Personal Demons.

Who is this Adam Groves who gets top billing over me in the blurbage department? At least I knew to include the title!

1. Ha! I didn't even think about billing! Okay, in further promotion I'll move you up. Thanks Greg! I really appreciate the support. $50 bucks for three hundred pages of disquiet and a year of bad dreams seems like a bargain to me...

2. A great book for anyone who enjoys fine writing, hard drugs, the taste of human flesh, or all of the above. Michael, if you'd like to run an excerpt here to show people what they're in store for, you have my e-address.
