THE LAST WINTER Is No Longer a Blockbuster Exclusive!
If, like me, you have an aversion to renting/buying DVDs from the Evil Empire known as Blockbuster Video, you'll be glad to hear that Larry Fessenden's THE LAST WINTER--Fear Zone's pick as the best indie chiller of 2007--is finally available through other outlets today, with almost 2 hours of bonus material! Read our interview with Fessenden about his episode of NBC's FEAR ITSELF, which airs on NBC next Thursday, July 31st (postponed from this week despite a glowing mention in TV GUIDE) at 10:00 PM, right here!

THE LAST WINTER stars Ron Perlman, James Le Gros and Connie Britton.
Written and directed by Larry Fessenden.

"a wicked atmosphere of claustrophobia materializes through Fessenden's cunning sense of widescreen spatiality: nightmarish empty corridors and elegantly swirling aerials ominously gazing down from the skies. This is filmmaking both gorgeous and deeply unsettling."
Aaron Hillis PREMIERE

"elegantly restrained horror ... metaphorically resonant ...
Feverishly Real, Terrifying."
Manohla Dargis, THE NEW YORK TIMES

"overpoweringly eerie ... the claustrophobia-to-psychosis continuum is harrowingly fluid."
David Edlestein, NEW YORK MAGAZINE

"An eco-horror tale that isn't afraid to promise utter bleakness ...
more mournful than alarmist in its environmental distress"
Michael Koresky, INDIEWIRE

"Fessenden executes his ambiguities with great precision of mood and atmosphere"
Nathan Lee, THE VILLAGE VOICE

"Profoundly, metaphysically scary"
John Anderson, FILM COMMENT

"a damn fine looking movie...striking and moody... for those who like their horror to play with ideas and embrace the ambiguous, THE LAST WINTER is a small gem"
Moriarty, AINT IT COOL NEWS

1. Man, I love this movie!!!! This is exactly what M. Night was trying to do with THE HAPPENING, but a million times more effective (and scarier and better acted).

3. Hopefully, it'll get to Argentina soon. Fassenden's a talent, and it's good to see Perlman in a role like this.
