DVD Review: BRUTAL MASSACRE
If you're a fan of metal, then you, no doubt, saw Spinal Tap. Well, if you're a fan of horror, you're going to want to see Anchor Bay's new release, BRUTAL MASSACRE!

BRUTAL MASSACRE is a 'mockumentary' that follows 80's horror filmmaker, Harry Penderecki (David Naughton) as he mounts his comeback. In the 80s, Harry was on top of the horror world with his hit movie, I'LL TAKE THE RING BACK...AND THE FINGER, TOO!, after that his career spiraled downward with a string of flops, including SASQUATCH AT THE MALL, a movie which Harry assures the documentarians is based on The Beatles' ABBEY ROAD album!

BRUTAL MASSACRE follows Harry as he mounts his big comeback, he's going to film his magnum opus, BRUTAL MASSACRE, and the documentary follows him from start to finish. We're there as he looks for financing for his movie, where he's told that "f you want money, you need more titties, boy!"

Next is scouting the location with the assistant director, played by Brian O'Halloran (CLERKS), where we also meet the foul mouthed hick who owns the location that the crew wants to use, he's played by Gunnar Hansen (THE TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE).

We go through casting, where we meet an assortment of oddball actors and then on to filming. There's the production manager, played by Ellen Sandweiss (TTHE EVIL DEAD), who has an hysterical encounter with the septic system of a rented RV, there's the cinematographer, played by Gerry Bednob (THE 40 YEAR OLD VIRGIN), who has a BIG anger management problem and the lead grip, played by Ken Foree (DAWN OF THE DEAD) who's loyal to Harry to a fault!

BRUTAL MASSACRE is one of the funniest movies I've seen this year and, horror fan or no, it's a damn funny movie, but, if you are a horror fan, then this is a 'must see' movie! You can find out more about BRUTAL MASSACRE by going to the Anchor Bay web site.

1. I just picked up my copy today. I plan to watch it ASAP! BTW, Jerami Cruise and Cristie Whiles, two of my buddies from Toe Tag Pictures, did the FX and make-up.
