AFI's Devi Snively is IN CHARGE on May 11th!
April 30, 2008
by Greg Lamberson
Filmmaker Devi Snively, whose short films for her production company, Deviant Productions--the ultra hip TEENAGE BIKINI VAMPIRE, the ultra gory CONFEDERATE ZOMBIE MASSACRE, and the ultra hip RAVEN GETS A LIFE (about a child vampire suffering from depression!)--have made a killing on the horror film festival circuit, has just completed her latest opus, DEATH IN CHARGE. Her newest effort is her most ambitious project yet, for several reasons.
Snively, a filmmaker with a unique vision, wrote and directed DEATH IN CHARGE as her project for the prestigious American Film Institute's Director's Workshop for Women--which only accepts eight applicants per term. To participate, Snively had to drop everything in her life (She taught a course on horror films at Notre Dame University, and was in post production on her firs low budget horror feature, TRIPPIN')and move to LA. She then had to find a producer to help her raise enough money to shoot a 20-minute film with a professional crew and SAG actors on a sound stage. She and and another women from her workshop were the first two filmmakers to create horror films as part of the program.
DEATH IN CHARGE will have its World Premiere at 7:00 PM on Sunday, May 11th, at the American Film Institute, 2021 Western Avenue, Los Angeles, Ca, 90027. The phone # is (574)329-5827. Look for future coverage on DEATH IN CHARGE, TRIPPIN' and future productions (one called I SPIT ON ELI ROTH!)on Fear Zone in the future.

1. Hooray for Devi! Wish I could be in LA to see Death In Charge. I really liked Confederate Zombie Massacre and simply adored Teenage Bikini Vampire and Raven Gets A Life. Devi creates characters that stick with you long after the screen goes black. I can't wait to see what she does next!
