Now Available: SPIRITS AND DEATH IN NIAGARA by Marcy Italiano
July 23, 2008
by Deep Throat
Take a ride over the Niagara Falls, through the rapids, or around the whirlpool to discover outlandish stories with frightening outcomes. You've heard about people going over the falls in a barrel, but what of those who have stayed behind after the stunts and their deaths? Learn about sacrifices to Tawiscara, the evil god, and the 300-foot-deep gorge, Devil's Hole, supposed home of a giant snake. Meet the dish-throwing ghost at the Olde Angel Inn, and Robert Parson, who hung over the edge of the Falls, only to die after his rescue. The Falls have a secret and scary calling, and those who answer the call are never disappointed. You won't be either.
If you're a honeymooner, a ghost hunter, or if you happen to be crossing the border and making a stop in the Niagara Region, you'll want to keep this book handy. There are stories about the Falls that you never knew about, and there are locations that are tucked away that you've never seen, including directions so that you can find them! Read about the history and war, ancient legends and tragic tales from the Honeymoon Capital of the world.
"We made many trips down to the border and took as many pictures as we could, which you'll find in the book. The hardest part about writing SPIRITS AND DEATH IN NIAGARA was staying away from rewriting a history book and sharing all the facts which were just as interesting as the ghost stories! I was surprised at how tight-lipped some people were when I asked for interviews, but I was lucky enough to find a few people who shared some great information and locations with me. Now when G and I go back to the Niagara Region, our trip is far more fascinating than ever before. I hope that others who read the book will feel the same way."
You can buy SPIRITS AND DEATH IN NIAGARA online at Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com/Amazon.ca, or get a sneak peek before buying at the publisher's website. 224 pages, 57 b/w photos, you can find more information at the author's website, where you can also watch the accompanying videos of the Falls and the book trailer featuring the song ""The Ballad of Colin Swayze" from the new CD Songs of Innocence and of Experience by Giasone Italiano. Even if you can't travel to the Falls yourself, SPIRITS AND DEATH IN NIAGARA will take you on a wild ride.
