Tone Zone: MOORE - "Guillotines and Angel Wings" CD
November 02, 2009
by Tobias Piwek
MOORE "Guillotines And Angel Wings" CD
(USA, 2009, Nightwing Records)
It took a whole four years until bandleader Jim Moore (vocals) and his companions Joe Johnson (guitars), Chad Parsons (bass) and Haakon Sjoergren (drums) finally came up with a follow-up to MOORE's latest full-length album "Bleed" from 2005. The long wait, however, was definitely worth it 'cause in the year of 2009, MOORE are stronger than ever and totally rip your head off with their crushing new CD "Guillotines And Angel Wings"!
Heavier, faster and fiercer than ever, this neck-breaking, teeth-gnawing beast o' steel comes along as a near-perfect blend of rough'n'dirty US Thrash Metal ala NASTY SAVAGE and sleazy'n'greasy 80s Shock Rock ala "Shout At The Devil"-era MOTLEY CRUE... with frontman Jim Moore sounding more than once like Vince Neil's demented little brother.
From the first notes of the forceful instrumental opener "Blood Rage" to the hymnic finale of "Victory", this album delivers nothing but first class Heavy Metal that's both, incredibly powerful on the one hand and helluva catchy on the other. So no matter what brand of classic Heavy Metal you prefer, MOORE will definitely have something cool up their sleeves for you.
Speed freaks will surely enjoy the swift stormer "Hell Boy", thrashers will freak out to the all-destroying neck-breaker "Scarred For Life", power metallers will sing along to the catchy verses of "Black Widow" and those who like it a bit more calm and melodic will most likely have shivers all over there body when the listen to the incredible power ballad "Guillotines And Angel Wings".
Lyric-wise, MOORE then again take you on a ride to the dark side and bring out just about everything a sinister metal heart can desire... genetically enhanced super-soldiers ("Born To Die"), demonic killing machines ("Hell Boy") and man-eating femme fatales ("Black Widow") are just some of the twisted creatures whose acquaintance you'll make throughout the course of this record.
So what are you waiting for, fellas? If you like your Metal dark, deep, evil and heavy as hell, "Guillotines And Angel Wings" is one album you definitely don't wanna miss!
