THE MUMMY: TOMB OF THE DRAGON EMPEROR.

I didn't think they could come up with a worse title than the THE SCORPION KING.
I fell asleep during the original, though I understand it has its share of fans.
I refused to watch the sequel or CURSE OF THE SCORPION KING, but I loved the Universal Studios ride. Color me ambivalent.

Brendan Fraser returns. Rachel Weiscz does not. Maria Bello replaces her; maybe that's an improvement. Interestingly, Jet Li gets star billing over Fraser. Michelle Yeoh co-stars. Russel Wong (CHINA GIRL, VANISHING SON) has a role. Rob Cohen replaces Stephen Sommers as director.

Cohen has had a mixed bag career, but I often find myself rooting for him. His better films include DRAGON: THE BRUCE LEE STORY and HBO's THE RAT PACK. His crap includes THE SKULLS and xXx. So why do I respect the guy? As a producer, he's had his hands in THE MONSTER SQUAD and THE SERPENT AND THE RAINBOW! The guy clearly has an affinity for horror and Asian culture, so maybe he's the right guy to do something interesting with this creaky franchise despite this new film's rancid title.
