Twilight Tales Honors Robert Weinberg

Twilight Tales Honors Robert Weinberg
The Horror Writers Association recently honored Robert Weinberg (interviewed by Fear Zone here) with a Lifetime Achievement Award for his lifelong contributions as an author, historian and bookseller. Unfortunately, Bob was unable to attend the award ceremony, which was held in conjunction with World Horror Con in Salt Lake City. Proving once again that some of the classiest people work in the horror field, Twilight Tales will host a celebration for Bob's award and achievements in his native Chicago on Monday, May 12th. The award will be presented by fellow icon Mort Castle (whom we also interviewed).

Bob told Fear Zone, "Twilight Tales is a Chicago literary institution and I'm proud to have read there numerous times during the past ten years. I was really disappointed I couldn't make it to Salt Lake City to accept my award, but being given it at Twilight Tales is the next best thing."

And Mort said, "I accepted Bob's LAA at WHC 2008. Now I'll give it to him...
Seriously, Bob Weinberg is a treasure. He probably doesn't know everything about the fields of horror, fantasy, and science-fiction (and pulp mags and comics and ... ) but he knows nearly everything and has been ever so generous with his knowledge, his talents, and his friendship. I've known Bob since we both attended Jesus's bar mitzvah (very nice... but not such a good sweet table) and more than a few of what I consider my accomplishments in this field, I owe directly to him--just like many others in our business."

Here's the Twilight announcement:

On Monday May 12th Twilight Tales will host an evening celebrating our longtime friend and mentor Bob Weinberg. The Horror Writer's Association announced one of this year's recipients of the Bram Stoker Lifetime Achievement award is author Robert Weinberg. Bob has written numerous books, short stories, and scholarly works that have contributed to both writing and the horror genre in innumerable ways. As a mentor and friend to Tina Jens, Bob was a driving force and inspiration to Twilight Tales' formation almost fifteen years ago.

On the night of the reception, Bob will read passages from some of his favorite works and speak briefly on this award. Mort Castle will be on hand to formally present the award since Bob was unable to attend this year's World Horror Con. We are pleased to be holding the reception which is expected to be attended by many nationally known authors and friends. Anyone who has ever read at, been inspired by, or encouraged by Twilight Tales, should try to attend and help celebrate our good friend on his well deserved honor.

Tonight will be at our temporary home Mix: The Lincoln Park Lounge 2843 N. Halsted (don't forget, there's free parking in the adjoining lot!)

Congratulations, Bob!
