Well, September keeps moving on; here we are half way through it already! As the old folk say, any day above ground is a good one, and the best way to make any day better is with a horror DVD! So, let's dig out of our graves, and see what we can pop into our DVD players this week!
Universal is releasing the grand-daddy of all the werewolf movies this week, that's right, it's AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON, in a 'Full Moon Edition', in both standard and blu-ray. I'm not sure what a 'full moon edition' is, but does it matter? Between John Landis' masterful direction and Rick Baker's cutting edge effects, this movie made me wet my pants in 1981 and I'll be putting on my depends to catch it ... (more…)

It's Tuesday September 8th and the month is just flying by, like winged monkeys after Dorothy! And speaking of winged monkeys, why don't we take a look at what's going to be flying off store shelves this week!
First up, for those of you without TVs, Paramount is releasing the collected edition of the slasher TV series, HARPER'S ISLAND. For those of you who missed it...which are most of you...this was a weekly slasher series, where each week you were given a piece of the puzzle and each week someone else died. It was a pretty good series, and now they're put it all together for the most of America that missed it!

September is finally here, and the days dwindle down, to a precious few...November, December...well, you know the lyrics, and if you don't, then go grab yourself a Sinatra CD and keep up with the rest of us! But, we're not here to discuss music...we'll leave that to Mars, after all, he's the expert, we're here to see what hits horror DVD today...that's my gig, and if I don't do it, then the editor screams, which is funny, but annoying. So, let's see what's on shelves today!

August is nearly over and summer's coming to an end. We're preparing ourselves to say goodbye to the long days and short nights, to the lawn mowing and picnics and preparing to say hello to those long winter nights and freezing your nads off shoveling white stuff off your sidewalk. Yes, it's the time of year that's built for horror, trees and plants are dying, the neighbor kids are getting their costumes ready for trick 'r' treat and I'm laying mines in my front yard to save myself some candy expense...ah, autumn, I dearly love ye! The other thing I love about the impending fall is the onslaught of horror DVDs, that's right, we all know that the closer we get to All Hallow's Eve, the ... (more…)

Can you believe that August is more than half way over?? That's right, kiddies, summer is nearly done and the time for school will soon by upon us... but don't despair, because from here, it's only a little over two months to Halloween, and isn't that everyone's favorite holiday? It's not? Well, it should be, after all, you can't display a severed head on Christmas...well, you can, but it's frowned upon! Anyway, here at FearZone.com, every day's a holiday, and Tuesday is National New Horror DVD Day...so, let's head down to the video store and celebrate, shall we?

It's Tuesday, August 11th and that could mean only one thing...that's right it's Hulk Hogan's birthday! The Hulkster is 56 today and, you know what he's doing to celebrate? Yep, he's heading here to FearZone.com to check out what horror DVDs that he's liable to get on his big day. Alright, so I don't know that's a fact, but prove that it isn't! Here are some gift ideas anyway!
First up is a good old fashioned alien story, it's ALIEN TRESPASS from Image Entertainment. A UFO has crashed on Earth and it seems that an alien monster has escaped. Now, it's up to the alien prison guard and some earthlings to find and neutralize the monster before it destroys the world. This is a good old ... (more…)

It's the first Tuesday in August, the back to school sales are in full swing and the dog days of summer are upon us. Here's a little known fact, they're called the 'dog days' of summer because when the summer ends hot dog sales traditionally go down because barbecues happen less often, so this last month of summer is when the last big hot dog sales happen as people get that final grilling done. Is that true, you ask? Well, probably not, but it's an interesting story none-the-less. So, while my editor (who's reading over my shoulder) tells me how full of shit I am, let's get to why we're all here anyway, let's see what hits horror DVD starting today!

It's the last Friday in July, the summer is racing to an end and soon everyone will be back in school. Which means days of drudgery for the kids, but happy days for me? Once again I can head into the video store and not fight through crowds of kids talking about the latest video game, I mean, seriously, who could sit in front of a TV for hours and hours playing some dumbass game, when you could be sitting there for hours and hours watching a great movie?? Come on kids of today, clearly you're doing too much, after all, my thumbs never give me any trouble at all after my favorite activity, can you say the same about yours? So, in the name of being even more lazy, here's what hits horror ... (more…)

July is nearly over, the fireworks are nearly gone and it's Tuesday, so you've dropped by here to find out what's new on horror DVD. Well, my dear friend, you've hit it right on the head, because that's exactly my job here at FearZone.com. Once a week, I'm released from my cage, like some bizarre horror DVD seeking blood-hound, and I head for the video store to find what's new...so grab my leash, here we go!
Sony Pictures puts MESSENGERS 2: THE SCARECROW out in the fields today. This is a prequel to the original, finds the farmer from the first movie putting a scarecrow in his field. What are the odds that the scarecrow will come to life and begin killing people? Well, even actually!

It's July 14th, summer is about half way done, and it's only a matter of time before those kids who hang around the damned video store have to go back to school...or at least hide in a better spot than my video store! But, let's take a deep breath and push through the pimply and pierced crowd to see what hit's horror DVD shelves today.
First up, Lionsgate brings us A HAUNTING IN CONNECTICUT, the story of the Campbell family, who has just moved into a brand new house! Well, it's a new house, but it's really an old funeral home where unspeakable acts took place! And, it just so happens that the Campbell's son is clairvoyant and is beginning to communicate with the dead who haunt the house. ... (more…)
