The Nightmare Collection, is nearing completion on a follow-up to its popular Indie horror shorts compilation series which saw Volume 1 hit the market to positive reviews. The DVD is a collection of some of the best horror shorts from around the world. They are introduced by a unique character called, Necro Nancy, played by the talented and beautiful actress/model Krista Grotte. On the DVD the Nancy character is playing out a 'From Beyond the Grave' murderous storyline all her own while introducing the shorts to the viewing audience. This gives the viewers a voyeuristic type experience as seen through the lens of the accompanying cameraman as Nancy dispatches her victims between films. Not ... (more…)

AUTOMATONS is one of my favorite science fiction film of the last decade. If you haven't seen it, here's your chance:
Starting today, visitors to New York Public Television station WNET's Reel 13 website can view Glass Eye Pix's award-winning film, AUTOMATONS, in its entirety. The film is available to watch streaming for free along with additional AUTOMATONS content, including an exclusive Reel 13 interview with writer-director James Felix McKenney.
Also available is the option to download a high-quality digital copy of the film for anyone who makes a donation to Channel 13.

Continuing its relationship with Larry Fessenden's Glass Eye Pix, Kino International is proud to announce the acquisition of Graham Reznick's debut feature I CAN SEE YOU (along with his unreleased 3D short film THE VIEWER) for release on DVD and VOD. The deal was negotiated by Kino prexy Donald Krim, producer/filmmaker Larry Fessenden (from Glass Eye Pix) and Ray Privett (from Cinema Purgatorio).
Following the 2008 release of Ilya Chaiken's LIBERTY KID and Ti West's TRIGGER MAN, also produced by Glass Eye Pix, Kino International is now pleased to distribute the fifth in Larry Fessenden's low-budget horror ScareFlix anthology.

The Warner Theatre in Morgantown, W.Va. will be hosting the world premiere screening of "Faces of Schlock" on Saturday May 16th, 2009 at midnight. Tickets cost only five dollars and will go on sale at 11pm. The film is a horror-comedy anthology, featuring four different short films from horror directors from four different states, including West Virginia filmmaker Justin Channell, Henrique Couto (Ohio), Chris LaMartina (Maryland), and Andrew Shearer (Georgia).
The same team of filmmakers had previously released a similar compilation of their early "backyard horror movies" under the name "Faces of Schlock." Two volumes of these films were created, with each filmmaker producing an over-the-... (more…)

Happy Cloud Pictures is pleased to announce that its fourth feature, SPLATTER MOVIE: THE DIRECTOR'S CUT is celebrating its official DVD release. As detailed in Fangoria Magazine, SPLATTER MOVIE is a surreal and off-beat "documentary" about the making of a slasher movie called "Tessaract" (which, in turn, is about a group of filmmakers shooting a movie called "Splatter Movie") whose cast and crew is being stalked by a killer masquerading as the film's fictional killer. Written by Mike Watt and directed by and starring Amy Lynn Best, SPLATTER MOVIE quickly spirals into bizarre territory as the line between film and reality blurs--then disappears entirely!

Indie horror fans were saddened last year when John Polonia, one half of the Polonia Brothers production team, passed away unexpectedly. Together, the twins had been responsible for such low budget titles as SPLATTER FARM, FEEDERS and SPLATTER BEACH (and many, many more; I've posted John's complete credits at the end of this piece). The shows must go on: Mark Polonia and John's lifelong friend Matt Satterly will continue to make films as Cinegraphic Productions, an offshoot of Polonia Bros. Entertainment.
Even more exciting: Brett Piper, the man responsible for BITE ME!, SHOCK-O-RAMA, and BACTERIUM is teaming up with Polonia on a new feature, which Piper will direct. First there was MAN-... (more…)

Pictured is the initial clay sculpture for an appliance created by Craig Lindberg for SLIME CITY MASSACRE. This gag is a spin on the original film's "stomach mouth" and will be worn by one of my new leading ladies. I initially posted this image on my Live Journal, where I keep a daily record of the film's progress, but some small minded person complained to Photobucket that I'd uploaded "objectionable" material and a funny "Removed" icon appeared in its place.
So I've not only posted the shot on FZ as an "easter egg," but traveled back in time to do so. (more…)

Producer-director Mark Steensland and screenwriter Rick Hautala have acquired the screen rights to James Newman's forthcoming novel ANIMOSITY via their newly formed Chang Shao Trading Company shingle.
This will mark the duo's first feature collaboration, having previously made a string of successful short films (including "Lovecraft's Pillow," based on a Stephen King idea, "Dead@17," based on Josh Howard's graphic novel series now in development with producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura, "Peekers," which collected five awards in more than 25 festival appearances and "The Eugly File," based on the Ed Gorman story).
